HUNNIC TRIBES, Western Turks (?). Uncertain. AE (Bronze, 18 mm, 0.99 g, 3 h), uncertain mint in Baktria or Zabulistan, circa 7th-8th century. Draped and bearded Sasanian style bust to right, wearing mural crown with fronted crescent, somewhat similar to that of Khosrau I; to right, illegible legend. Rev. Fire altar flanked by two attendants; to left and right, traces of legend. Vondrovec -. Extremely rare. Somewhat rough, otherwise, very fine.

From a collection of coins from Central Asia.

The bust on the obverse of this interesting type is reminiscent of the beardless issues of Yabghu of the Bactrians.
